Sabrina V is the latest speaker to come from US heavyweights Wilson Audio. The Sabrina now joins Wilson’s range of V speakers and with it comes a host of improvements from the previous Sabrina X model. Let’s take a look at what’s different.
Cabinet
Firstly the cabinet is taller on the V, it has been redesigned and is slightly slimmer in profile giving a sleeker appearance. Wilson have also worked on improving the isolation by incorporating their V-MCD isolation technology. To achieve this they add the new ‘V-material’ to the base of the enclosure and partner it with the highly-praised diode spikes. This provides an even quieter background, making the music feel deeper and more alive.
Improved Drive Units
The drive units are clearly a very important part of any loudspeaker and this is where Wilson have made some big improvements. The Sabrina V has added the Quadramag mid-range driver which was designed for the larger Wilson models (From WATT/Puppy up to Chronosonic XVX) for which they have had great success. The AlNiCo (Aluminium – Nickel – Cobalt) QuadraMag driver is renowned for its exceptional ability to settle and maintain linearity resulting in greater depth and dimensionality.
Another significant change to the V is the addition of the CSC tweeter. Again, a key component in the modern Wilson models, the Convergent Synergy Carbon (CSC) tweeter delivers an astonishingly natural high-frequency response. This lightly coated textile dome tweeter seamlessly blends with the AlNiCo mid-range and 8-inch woofer. The CSC offers extended linearity, refined harmonic detail, and a natural sense of acoustic space.
