At the core of the Sigma-X design is Shunyata Research’s TAPc (Transverse Axial Polarizer) technology, which reduces subtle micro-phase distortions. This results in an exceptionally clear, open, and focused soundstage, allowing even the most delicate musical details to be expressed with unparalleled precision.


Sigma-X also features HARP technology which lowers cable induced noise by controlling phase distortions created by signal reflections and resonances.  By breaking up these resonances, HARP enhances both resolution and coherence, bringing a new level of definition and control to the system’s overall performance.


Shunyata’s VTX-Ag conductors are made from both silver and copper conductors, in a coaxial geometry to combine the speed and clarity of silver with the warmth and weight of copper, delivering a full-bodied sound that balances impact and refinement across all frequencies. Finally, the KPIP v2 (Kinetic Phase Inversion Process) conditions the conductors, reducing break-in time and maximizing sonic performance.

GROUNDBREAKING TECHNOLOGY


TAPc (Transverse Axial Polarizer) is a patent-pending technology that couples to the electromagnetic fields surrounding electrical or signal conductors. TAPc behaves like a polarizer, passively reducing electromagnetic distortion that presents as a type of glare or compression on sound or images.


HARP addresses current drift and audio-frequency current resonances that can occur in speaker cables, analogous to standing waves in room acoustics. Acting as a current-mode diffraction device, the HARP module disrupts these resonances, improving the system’s perceived resolution, focus, and coherence.


Shunyata Research’s proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process (KPIP v2™) refines conductor and terminal metals at the atomic level. This dramatically reduces burn-in time and significantly improves sonic performance, delivering a relaxed and life-like presentation. 


VTX-Ag™ conductors combine a pure silver center core with an outer concentric ring of pure copper. This geometry delivers silver’s speed, clarity, and resolution with copper’s warmth, body, dimensionality, and low-octave power.


Fluorocarbon dielectrics have unique electrical characteristics: very low dielectric absorption, high dielectric strength and exceptional heat resistance. In Shunyata Research cables it reduces the perception of dynamic compression and it improves low-level resolution and clarity.
