Fully Active Horn-Loaded Bass System
The Mezzo G3 iTron represents the pinnacle of Avantgarde Acoustic’s G3-generation horn loudspeaker technology, combining short horn-loaded acoustic bass architecture with fully active iTRON Current Drive amplification. Designed as a reference-class loudspeaker system, it brings together high-efficiency horn loading, advanced direct-drive amplification, and sophisticated digital signal processing for exceptional dynamics, transparency, and control.
At the foundation of the system is Avantgarde Acoustic’s short horn-loaded bass technology. The acoustic bass flare is designed to improve the coupling of low-frequency energy to the listening environment while providing fast transient response and precise bass articulation. This architecture contributes to powerful physical impact while maintaining controlled and responsive low-frequency reproduction.
The midrange section features a large 670 mm spherical horn combined with the Evolution XM2 170 mm midrange driver. The driver is powered through Avantgarde Acoustic’s patented iTRON Current Drive technology, which provides direct control of current delivered to the voice coil. This architecture enables highly precise driver control and rapid transient response.
The midrange and high-frequency sections use a direct-drive architecture without conventional passive crossover components. By minimizing passive elements in the signal path, the system is designed to preserve signal integrity, dynamic expression, and phase coherence.
High-frequency reproduction is handled by the XT3 reference annular supertweeter, extending the frequency response up to 28,000 Hz. Its high-efficiency horn-loaded design provides detailed treble reproduction, extended high-frequency resolution, and an open, spacious presentation.
The low-frequency chamber incorporates two 12-inch XB12 bass drivers in a horn-loaded configuration. Each driver features a substantial 153 mm (6-inch) voice coil, allowing the system to deliver high acoustic output while maintaining controlled transient performance and dynamic headroom.
Powering the bass section is a dedicated 1,000-watt G3 active amplifier with integrated DSP. The digital signal processor provides precise bass management and room adaptation, allowing the system to be optimized for different listening environments.
