Fully Active iTron Horn System
The Duo GT (“Grand Twin”) iTron represents the ultimate fully active expression of Avantgarde Acoustic’s iconic horn speaker lineage. Designed without compromise, it combines extreme dynamic capability, exceptional acoustic transparency, and advanced active amplification in a flagship reference loudspeaker system.
At the heart of the system is a large 670 mm spherical midrange horn, engineered to maintain a smooth and powerful midrange response down to 170 Hz. Its large horn geometry enables highly efficient acoustic loading while contributing to an expansive soundstage, effortless dynamics, and exceptionally natural vocal reproduction.
The midrange and high-frequency sections are driven by Avantgarde Acoustic’s patented multi-channel iTRON Current Drive technology. Unlike conventional voltage-driven amplification, iTRON directly controls the current delivered to the voice coils, providing precise control over driver velocity and acceleration. This architecture eliminates the need for conventional passive crossover components in the direct signal path, helping preserve immediacy, transparency, and dynamic expression.
The Evolution XM2 170 mm midrange driver, incorporating Avantgarde Acoustic’s SoftMesh-Compound membrane technology, is engineered for high-resolution midrange reproduction with exceptional vocal presence, micro-detail, and dynamic articulation.
High-frequency reproduction is handled by the flagship XT3 supertweeter, featuring a 200 mm long-throw horn and frequency extension up to 28,000 Hz. Its high-efficiency design delivers extended treble response, fine detail, and effortless high-frequency dynamics.
The dedicated subwoofer module incorporates two 12-inch XB12 high-precision bass drivers, each equipped with a massive 153 mm (6-inch) voice coil. This dual-driver configuration provides substantial low-frequency output, controlled transient response, and powerful sub-bass reproduction.
The bass section is powered by the 1,000-watt G3-1000 active digital subwoofer amplifier suite, supported by an integrated 12-band parametric DSP. The advanced digital processing provides precise bass management and room integration, allowing the system to be carefully optimized for different listening environments.
